For On my Period she documented her menstrual periods for two years. In this project she pressed used sanitary towels onto paper, made pictures and videos of herself while bleeding, and painted herself with blood. ‘This is the most personal and introspective project I have ever worked on. It’s a creative way to explore my femininity and learn to understand and appreciate that special week of the month. Although everything has been published on the internet, the rituals took place in the privacy of my own home.’
A book has been published about the project. It consists of 20 pages with paintings, pictures and diary entries. All hidden behind a discreet black soft cover. Items such as the Moon Diary, greeting cards Moontime and a poster with self portrait of the artist can be ordered on the On My Period–site.
