A hot meal for the homeless? Yes. A place to sleep? Plenty. Menstrual pads? Nope. The four women behind the #RedDot campaign couldn’t get their heads around the fact that homeless women have nowhere to go when it comes to their periods. They started a global crowdfunding campaign to collect and donate feminine products to women in need. They’ve collected over 10,000 products!
Now they’re organizing an exhibition on menstruation in New York on the 20th of August. The goal is to humanize the period and to get rid of the taboo, so help for homeless women and women in jail on this topic will be more normal. Visitors can get their ticket by donating a feminine hygiene product. Both male and female artists are participating. Including three of the four initiators: Sage Youngblood, Jewel Addy and Eva Woolridge. The ‘Menstrual Mandala’ is from Allison Felt.
